I live in the DC Metro Area, so there are always events at the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian, or other cultural institutions in the area.
If you're on Facebook, check out the DC Area Archivists Roundtable, which posts details of some events, and hosts networking happy hours. The last one was on July 20 at Nellie's Sport's Bar!
If you're not on Facebook, join the DC section of MARAC and receive emails about events in the area.
ARSC-DC also hosts several events a year. The most recent event was a lecture/rare film clip screening by Richie Underberger titled "Women in Rock and Soul" at the Library of Congress. It was a great, free way to spend a Tuesday night, and had me humming Joni Mitchell all the way home.
